A divine trip through Kerala

What’s not in Kerala? It’s a difficult question to answer. Rich in culture and natural wealth,up to date in technological growth and efficient in literacy; the land stands top in each and every aspects. You can go satisfied in each needs and deeds from Kerala. The southern Indian state is a hot spot for travelers with lot of fabulous destinations and continuous developments in tourism.

Along with this natural symphony, the land is famous for many temples, churches,mosques and many other religious centers. Let’s make a glance through some of them. Madhur temple and Anthapura Lake temple are the major Hindu devotional centres in Kasargodu District. Parassini Muthappan Madhappura located in the banks of Valapattanam River in Kannur is a famous Hindu temple with deity Sree Muthappan. This is a unique temple and it does not follow the Satvic Brahminical form of worship, as in other Hindutemples of Kerala.

The other major Hindu pilgrim centres in Kannur are Rajarajeswari temple, Mamanikkunnu Temple etc. Kottiyoor is a prominent Shiva temple in Kannur. Thisspecial temple located inside forest area remains closed throughout the year except for the 27days of Vysakha festival. Thirunelli Temple is an ancient temple with Shiva as deity locatedin Wayanad at an altitude of 900m with the added charm of beautiful forests and breathtaking mountains. Thirunavaya Temple in Malappuram is another famous Hindu pilgrimcentre with much cultural significance. Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple is the most visited Hindu religious center in Kerala.

The temple is a unique architectural wonder and it follows many customs. There is a dress code for entering the temple and only Hindu’s have the permission to enter. Cheraman Juma Masjid is a mosque in Methala, and is said to be the very first mosque in India.Vadakkumnathan temple located in the centre of Thrissur City is a calm and divine Hindu temple with a serene atmosphere. Chottanikkara Temple at Ernakulam is a famous Hindu pilgrim centre. Kallil Temple in Cochin located inside a deep forest is a real wonder to visit. Malayattoor Church in Cochin is the most visited Christian pilgrim centre in Kerala.

The Mattanchery Synagogue is one of the oldest Jewish Synagogues in the world. Shabarimala in Pathanamthitta is a famous Hindu religious centre open for pilgrims of any religion. The temple is located inside a forest and gets uncontrollably crowded in the pilgrimseasons. Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple at Alleppy is a world famous Hindu temple. St.Alphonsa Bharananganam Church Kottayam is a sacred Christian Church. Amritanandamayi Ashram at Vallikavu in Kollam is a most visited divine centre in Kerala and an international charitable organization. Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple in Trivandrum is now famous allover the globe for the gold treasure found here. Attukal Temple is famous for the ceremonycalled Attukal Pongala. Vettukad is the most visited Christian Church and Bheemapalli is the famous mosque in Trivandrum. The best stay in cochin and munnar.
